'Payphone' Continues To Take Over Pop & Radio Songs Chart, Overexposed Slips On Digital Albums Chart

Maroon 5's new CD Overexposed debuted on the charts last week with it's number-two entry on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and it's reign atop the Digital Albums sales chart. This week the album takes a hard-hit... falling 1-6 on the Digital Albums chart. The album slips only two spots, as mentioned yesterday on our blog, to No. 4 on the Top 20 Albums chart. However, it is looking better for the pop rock quintet this album release while their 2010 Hands All Over issue debuted at No. 2 and fell out of the top ten within two week of it's release.

The band's Overexposed lead single "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, remains at a standstill at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The song returned to it's peak last week moving up 3-2 beating out Gotye's hit "Somebody That I Used to Know", featuring up-and-coming artist Kimbra. The track seeks success over on the Pop Songs, On-Demand Songs, and Radio Songs charts... as it tops all three of them for a second consecutive week in a row. This is Maroon 5's second number-one pop single in the past 8 months with their 2011 hit single release of  "Moves  Like  Jagger", featuring Christina Aguilera, which spent four non-consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100 last fall. Plus, the 'payphone' tune debuts on the (unexpected) Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart dating at number-thirty two. And over on the Digital Songs chart, the single stays at No. 3.

The second single from the new CD titled "One More Night", which came out June 19, first debuted at No. 42. For it's third week on the Hot 100 it fell to No. 83. So close to another top 40 hit boys, so close. Maybe they will have luck with their upcoming third single "Daylight", which is set to be released later this fall for contemporary radio.
