Is Maroon 5 About to Have the Longest Run on the Hot 100 in 2012?
Who would have thought that Las Angeles pop rock group Maroon 5 would top their 2011 single "Moves Like Jagger" for the band's biggest hit? Well the band outdid themselves with their single "One More Night", which tops the Billboard Hot 100 for a ninth week consecutively this week. "Jagger" had only logged in a total of four weeks non consecutively at No. 1 on the Hot 100 last fall.
"One More Night" is also on track at becoming this year's longest running number-one song on the tally! Maroon 5 is currently tied with Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" for the longest run atop the chart with nine weeks.
As "One More Night" continues it's reign atop the throne of the Billboard Hot 100, on other chart notes the single charts it tops the Billboard Pop Songs chart and Radio Songs charts this week. On the On-Demand Songs chart "Night" falls a spot from 3-4, stays hold at No. 19 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, re-enters the Japan Hot 100 chart at No. 97, goes back a step from 3-4 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart, and is No. 1 on the Adult Pop Songs chart. The song currently tops 4 charts this week.
The band's newest CD, Overexposed, which dropped on June 26th in the United States, has gained much chart success this week due to Maroon 5's release of their third single "Daylight." The album jumps from 20-15 on the Billboard 200 chart, moves up 13-10 on the Canadian Albums chart, and launches 18-8 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart! Nice job guys!
