Overexposed Sells 190,000 Preak In First Week, 'One More Night' Debuts On Hot 100

It's Maroon 5 week! And that means new songs and a new album. With all that... the alternative rock to power pop quintet released the new single "One More Night" on June 19 on iTunes, making it's big debut this week on the Billboard charts. Plus, we got the scoop on the band's fourth CD Overexposed and how will look on the Billboard albums' chart on next week's sales.

Maroon 5 released their new single on June 19 "One More Night", a reggae-jam produced by Max Martin and Shellback who candy covered the band's number-one summer hit last year "Moves Like Jagger." But the Christina Aguilera collaboration doesn't seem to match up with reggae, just like "Night." The new single debuts at No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and makes a No. 12 impression on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. The new song follows the release of Overexposed's fronting single "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, which first charted in late April debuting at No. 3 on the Hot 100. "Payphone" moves up a spot to No. 2 this week, reaching it's new peak, on the Hot 100 singles chart. Over on the Digital Songs chart "Payphone" falls 2-3 while Katy Perry's new synth tune "Wide Awake" beats the gang to the runner-up spot.  The song also moves up a spot 3-2 on the Pop Songs chart, 4-3 on the On-Demand chart, and still remains the NO. 1 single in Canada. However for their 2010 album Hands All Over, which still charts freely throughout the Billboard 200 albums chart, it falls into the bad-half descending 100-115. It first peaked almost 2 years ago at No. 2 falling behind Linkin Park... which is coinsidence that the band will be going up against Linkin Park again in this coming sales week. Let's take a look at the bands' head-to-head competition shall we?

2010:
LINKIN PARK'S "A THOUSAND SUNS" DEBUTS AT No. 1
MAROON 5'S "HANDS ALL OVER" ENTERS AT No. 2.

2012:

(Billboard's predictions)

LINKIN PARK'S "ALL LIVING THINGS" WILL DEBUT AT No. 1
MAROON 5'S "OVEREXPOSED" WILL FALL SHORT AT No. 2

Billboard, the charting company, predicts that the rock band Linkin Park's new release Living Things will debut atop the Billboard 200 chart on the sales week of July 5th with well over 220,000 album sales. As for Maroon 5, they predict they will fall short at No. 2, falling behind Linkin Park, with Overexposed only selling at as much as 190,000 album sales.

Maroon 5 Break Milestone Record In U.K. with 'Payphone'

Maroon 5 scoop their first ever number-one U.K. hit single with their pop rap tune "Payphone", the lead single off the album Overexposed, which is out tomorrow (June 25) in the United Kingdom. The single broke a chart record by being the first number-one act to break the 100,000 sales milestone. In what has been a huge month for chart toppers, Maroon 5 this week help continue the run of form in the UK pop market, racking up an impressive opening week sale for new single Payphone of well over 141,000. That’s only a few hundred copies off the tally managed by Gary Barlow’s Sing following the Diamond Jubilee celebrations a fortnight ago.  Cheryl still maintains the record for fastest seller of the year after last week’s Call My Name 152k debut.

Congratulations to Maroon 5 for having their first U.K. Number One hit single! Pick up Overexposed, the new fourth album, on iTunes now!

Maroon 5 Sample Rock N' Roll In New Prince Cover, Listen To 'Kiss' Full-Length

Maroon 5 is out and blazing hot with their new album Overexposed, which comes out fresh on June 26 in the States. On the album, the group brought back some rock 'n roll elements on a bonus track from the album that looks to be a Prince cover of his number one single "Kiss." The original song has a slight contemporary R&B and soul vibe, which you'd think the boys of Maroon 5 would appriciate and keep in their studio cover, but they revibe the tune with some classic 60's rock 'n roll and blues-y feeling. The track is featured as a bonus track on the album along with two remixes of the band's hit single "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, as well as the J.R. Rotem produced "Wipe Your Eyes" tune, and their SAJ era track "Wasted Years."

MTV Uploads 'One More Night' Video Teaser, New Music Video Out June 25

Get More: Music News

We've seen Adam Levine, frontman of Maroon 5 and coach and mentor on The Voice U.S., get beat up up his own girlfriend, perform at an orgy, and run from the cops in his music videos, but Levine and the crew have reached what fans would call it... "a new level of awesomeness." MTV released a sneak peak clip of Maroon 5's up-and-coming "One More Night" music video which clearly shows Adam in a struggling marriage, involving a child, and getting paid to be a professional boxer? That's right! A boxer! In the teaser-clip it shows bassist Mickey Madden serving as the announcer ready-ing Levine's match with fellow percussionist Matt Flynn. But that's all the teaser "teases" us about. We will have to wait until June 25th!

"One More Night", a pop-rock, irresistible, reggae-jam, just recently released on June 19 via iTunes Store, serves as the band's second single apon the group's release of their fourth much-anticipated record, Overexposed, which drops June 22nd! You can download it on itunes today.

Payphone Tops Canadian Chart, Makes Japan Top 10

With a number-one digitally selling-record under it's account, "Payphone" has grown to be more and more successful every week since it's release. Maroon 5' pop-rap single has taken a toll worldwide as it enters the Japan Hot 100 at No. 10 this week and tops the Canadian Hot 100 singles chart for a fifth week. The single is at a standstill on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 3, and holds at No. 2 on the Digital Songs chart. This week, Justin Bieber's Believe lead single "Boyfriend", which first charted in April, surpassed "Payphone" with the highest-selling single this year, but the Wiz Khalifa-collaboration is still holding strong as the decade's best-selling single... yet.

Moving on to the other genre charts, over on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, the payphone track 6-3, on the On-Demand Songs chart meets it's new peak moving 3-2, falls 9-10 on the Ringtone Chart, grooves up from 22-19 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart (of course the non-rap version), stands still at No. 3 on the Adult Pop Songs chart, enters the Alternative Songs chart at No. 47, and as for the YouTube Video Charts... is stands at No. 2.

The band's Benny Blanco and Max Martin-produced track "Moves Like Jagger", which topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for four consecutive weeks last fall, re-enters the Digital Songs chart at No. 66. The disco-thique tune also holds at No. 8 on the Adult Contemporary Songs chart, and moves up 13-12 on the Myspace Audio charts. The group's third studio record, Hands All Over, charted at No. 92 this week after moving up two spots from No. 94 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Speaking of which, the band's fourth album Overexposed is set to drop June 26th on iTunes and in stores. What are your predictions of the album's debut on the Album charts? Do you think it'll debut at No. 1 like their 2007 album It Won't Be Soon Before Long? Maybe it will fall short at No. 2 like their 2010 record Hands All Over? Share with us on Twitter by answering @M5NewsRoom & follow us as well!

Maroon 5's 'Jagger' Takes Dramatic Slip Off Charts

Maroon 5 hasn't had much movement on the charts in the recent months, but their 2011 number-one chart topper "Moves Like Jagger" took a rash plummet off the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It was recorded, via Billboard Magazine, as the largest fall on the charts this year so far. The group is looking at success however with their single "Payphone." On the Digital Songs chart, "Jagger" fell 70-72, while the payphone-tune moved up a spot from 3-2. Over on the Hot 100, "Payphone" is at a standstill at No. 3, on the Pop Songs chart at No. 6, Radio Songs chart at No. 3, and stays at No. 3 on the On-Demand Songs chart. The band's third studio album Hands All Over falls 90-92 after falling 20+ spots last week on the Billboard 200 albums' chart. Over on the Canadian Hot 100 the "Payphone" track still takes the throne for a third week atop the chart. "Moves Like Jagger" fell 39-49 on Canada's singles' chart.

The band is looking at the big week coming up next week on the Billboard charts as the group's re-issue of their debut album Songs About Jane raises over 10,000+ digital sales via Maroon5's official website and iTunes Store. Their unreleased tracks "Chilly Winter", "Woman", and "Take What You Want" may not seem to pop on the charts, but the success breakthrough 2003 album may just peep on the Billboard 200.

Maroon 5 is celebrating their eclectic, crazy ten years in the music industry with a re-issue of their debut record Songs About Jane, a defined pop-rock funk-rock fused collection of irresistibly brilliant songs. Spending thirty-seven weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, it peaked at number-six in the States, not to mention their success overseas reaching number-one in the United Kingdom and in Australia. The band has shown all sides of their talent; from the synthesized era of It Won't Be Soon Before Long to the funky tuned Hands All Over to the uptempo, electric rock that is Overexposed.

The band's debut release spawned several successful, eclectic singles. In 2002, the band came up-to-bat with their metal-fused hit "Harder to Breathe." In 2004, they released what would be their world-changing, hit "This Love" and in 2005, releasing their jazzy pop "Sunday Morning" track. But their most recognizable hit "She Will Be Loved" will forever change the way fans and pop radio tuners have an aspect on music today. The single won the band several awards and has been featured in commercials, movies, soundtracks, and has been one of the most covered songs in America. Their song "Must Get Out" and "Secret" is also one of the most demanded songs the band performed live back in their SAJ era and going into their IWBSBL era.

The band's second studio release, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, released in May of 2007, entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at number-one, being the bands first no. one album, and only being their second. The album spawned a few good pop-clique hits as well. The irresistible guitar-pop track "Makes Me Wonder", which peaked atop the Billboard Top Hot 100 singles' chart in 2007... and the funky-soul tune "Wake Up Call", which got the band a spot in the top ten in Canada.

The Grammy-Award winning group's third studio album, Hands All Over, is and probably always will be the band's most experienced album they will ever release. It may have done poorly commercially and was the band's lowest-selling album, debuting at number-two and falling out of the top ten in the States' by it's second week, but the album was much loved by fans and gained the crew tons of new fans as well. As specially with it's re-release in July 2011 with the inclusion of their forever-changing disco-pop track "Moves Like Jagger." It got the album 20,000+ digital sales that summer launching it into the top ten on the Billboard 200 and number-one on the Digital Albums chart.

We have come to an exciting stop at the await of the band's fourth studio album Overexposed, which is set to drop in retail on June 26nd. We have gotten a little taste though, however, with the surprise performance of the reggae-pop song "One More Night" live in Atlantic City, New Jersey and the leak of "Wipe Your Eyes", which will serve as a b-side to "Daylight" on the album. And not to mention the number one digital selling song of the decade (so far...) "Payphone", featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa. We can expect a year of success from the group in the coming months.

Meanwhile, you can download the new Songs About Jane: 10 Year Anniversary Edition on iTunes Store now, including never before heard demos and unreleased tracks from the band. You can pre-order the band's upcoming album Overexposed as well on iTunes!

Maroon 5 Interview w/ Music Connection

It would be easy ti attribute Maroon 5's renewed eminence of Adam Levine's presence as a judge on the breakout television hit The Voice. But simply celebrating a lithesome frontman with a penchant for displaying his tattooed body and sparring with a testy diva on a television show in a disservice to an ever-evolving band that is flourishing long after lesser groups would have knocked out of the ring. Two key members - self effaced lead guitarist James Valentine and the animated and hypercharged front man Adam Levine - reveal a contrast in energies. In this exclusive interview, Music Connection speaks with the pair about the shifting colors of one of the world's most successful bands.

Maroon 5 Performs At Rock In Rio Lisboa

Maroon 5 performing at the 2011 Rock In Rio concert in Brazil.
Last year the band Maroon 5 performed live to just fill in for rapper Jay-Z's spot at the 2012 Rock In Rio Brazil concert series. Now, this year, they headlined the event!

The Grammy-Award winning group just performed moments ago on the World Stage in Lisboa performing their latest and greatest hits. They kicked off the show with their newly released pop-rap fused tune "Payphone", the no rap version of course, and concluded the show with a wonderful crowd-interactive medley of "She Will Be Loved." Surprisingly the crew did not perform any new material from their upcoming album Overexposed such as the lovely reggae-fused "One More Night" or the recently talk about "Daylight" track. The band is sharing the stage with Lenny Kravitz this evening on the World Stage in Lisboa and is promoting their new albums coming out this summer!

The whole show will be put up on YouTube later tomorrow. It will be shared via link on Twitter! Follow us at @M5NewsRoom! Also, thank you to Maroon 5 for finally following us on Twitter! Much appreciated.

In other news, the band's radio release date for "One More Night" is set for June 25, 2012! Listen out for it!
