It’s a good time to be a member of Maroon 5. The group kicks off their Honda Civic tour tonight (Aug. 1), which is set to be their biggest yet. And during their downtime, they’ll be thinking up a fresh batch of material for their forthcoming album. In addition to the grooves he’ll be strumming for thousands this summer, lead singer Adam Levine will also be hearing wedding bells chime in the future after proposing to his new fiancĂ© a few weeks back.

Before they were Maroon 5, the band originally formed under the name Kara’s Flowers in 1994. Founding members of the band were high school classmates Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick. In 1997, the band signed to Reprise Records and released the album “The Fourth World”. After little success, the band left the label and attended college for a short period. With the addition of James Valentine, the band regrouped in 2001 and signed with Octone Records as Maroon 5.

Released on June 25, 2002, Maroon 5’s debut album “Songs About Jane” reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. It’s now a multi-platinum set, boasting several hit singles.

“This Love” climbed up the Hot 100 to No. 5. Additionally, the single won the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist the same year. It was their first major hit.

The breakout single about an underappreciated lady in need of affection, “She Will Be Loved” swept up the charts and became No. 5 on Hot 100.

As Maroon 5’s success and noteriety grew, they won the Best New Artist Grammy in 2005. The following year, the band won Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for “This Love."

Upon releasing the single “Makes Me Wonder,” the lead cut from 5's second album, the song surged from No. 64 to No. 1, setting the record for the biggest jump to number-one in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Eventually, the record was broken by Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” in 2009. The single marked the band’s first No. 1 song on the Hot 100 in 2007.

Maroon 5’s sophomore album, “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” scored a No. 2 debut on 200 Albums charts and sold 429,000 copies.

“Makes Me Wonder” won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 2008 Grammys.

Levine got his start in the fashion world in August 2010 when he launched clothing line 222 at the Project trade show in Las Vegas. The line was collaboration with his father Fred Levine, who is the founder of retail chain M. Fredric.

Levine was named as a judge on music competition show "The Voice" and has stayed with the show since. He coached Season 1 winner Javier Colon to victory during the inaugural season.

Levine teamed up with rap band Gym Class Heroes on their "Stereo Hearts," which was released in the summer of 2011. The song would go on to make it all the way to No. 4 on the Hot 100.

Featuring Christina Aguilera, “Moves Like Jagger” became the band’s single and launched them to the top of the Hot 100. Their 2010 album "Hands All Over" wasn't as well-received as their prior sets. The No. 1 single was later positioned on a reissued version of “Hands All Over.” "Jagger" over 8.5 million copies worldwide. The album itself peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In early 2012, Levine announced that he was launching his own record label, called 222. "Glee” actor Matthew Morrison was the first artist to be signed to the label.

As the leading single off the fourth album “Overexposed,” “Payphone” peaked at No. 2 on Hot 100.

Levine made his major acting debut on the second season of FX's "American Horror Story," where he stuck around for a few episodes before (SPOILER ALERT) being brutally killed.

Levine hosted "Saturday Night Live" for the first time on Jan. 26, 2013. His appearance included a "The Voice"-spoofing opening monologue featuring Cameron Diaz and Jerry Seinfeld and "YOLO," a hilarious digital short with comedy group Lonely Island that went viral.

This February Levine launched a Macy's-exclusive perfume line for men and women, “Adam Levine.” The singer teamed up with ID Perfumes to develop the scent, which he described as "subtle" in an interview with People.

Sears announced a partnership with Levine to launch a new clothing line called "Shop Your Way Brands." The line will also feature a wide array of celebrities in the future, but Levine and rapper Nicki Minaj are the first to launch the brand. The line is exclusively available on and at K-Mart retailers.

Just weeks ago, Levine announced his engagement to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo. The couple began dating in 2012, took some time apart and recently reconnected.
