In a recent interview with Associated Press, guitarist James Valentine and singer and songwriter Adam Levine sat down to talk about the band's adventure on their second round of the Honda Civic Tour with Kelly Clarkson and spoke about the early stages and progress of the Los Angeles based group's forthcoming fifth studio effort, which is rumored to come out sometime early to the middle of next year.
James Valentine said the new music the band has been vaguely working on is going to be a change of pace from the current album's radio-friendly pop sound. Singer Adam Levine said the album is heading towards a "more natural" direction than their last few records. "We have great, great songs ready for this album," Levine said. "Between me flying around doing press or this and that and the [Maroon 5] guys doing a lot of heavy lifting while I'm not around we're very much in the early stages for this album in terms of progress." Guitarist James Valentine spoke about the progress of the album saying "the stuff we're working on now, it definitely has gone maybe a little darker in its sound, maybe back a little bit more to what we kind of did on Songs About Jane," he said. "But at this point we do have all kinds of different songs and it is early."
There is no word of the band releasing any new material sooner than later. However, the group is fresh off their newest top 10 hit single "Love Somebody" which spent this last summer charting in the top ten in over 6 countries. It is said that "Lucky Strike" will serve as the band's fifth and final radio single from their 4th album, Overexposed before the new year, however no confirmation has been made.
The band announced that they will be performing two back to back shows at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on December 30th and 31st in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pre-sale tickets are currently available.
