'Overexposed' Sells 1.1 Million Copies In 1 Year

Maroon 5's fourth studio album Overexposed has sold over a million copies in the United States since it's release on June 26 last year

A year ago today, pop rock outfit Maroon 5 dropped their fourth studio album Overexposed in the United States and impacted pop radio like no one else. Selling over 300,000 copies within its first week, according to Neilson SoundScan, the album debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, almost certain to top the chart. Ever since last summer, the album, to date, has sold 1.1 million copies in the United States alone becoming one of the band's most successful albums in history.

The band has achieved much more success than ever on this album. "One More Night" was tied at No. 1 with Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me, Maybe" for being the longest-running No. 1 hit single on the Hot 100 chart last year, "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, took everyone by storm as it had the best first-week sales pitch since 2008's Black Eyed Peas takeover ("Got a Feelin'", "Boom Boom Pow"), and the band released an overall 4 No. 1 top 40 singles from the album.

Danielle Bradbery Is Crowned 'The Voice'

Blake Shelton wins three consecutive seasons as Danielle Bradbery takes home the win for season 4

The fourth season of The Voice wrapped up on Tuesday night with a two-hour live show featuring performances from some of the biggest names in music.

NBC's singing competition had three contestants remaining at the start of the show: Blake Shelton's country artists The Swon brothers and Danielle Bradbery, and Usher's indie singer Michelle Chamuel.

Iconic singer Cher was a major highlight of the night, performing "Woman's World," the first single off her upcoming album of the same name. In her first live performance in many years, Cher took the stage wearing black and mesh, and a very memorable black and purple hairstyle.

Other performers included Christina Aguilera (who will return as a coach for season 5), Bruno Mars, Florida Georia with Nelly, Hunter Hayes, and Bob Seger.

Tuesday's finale also saw many past season four contestants return to the stage, with some performing with the remaining three contestants, and others performing group numbers.

At the end of the show, a new winner was crowned: Danielle Bradbery.
Michelle Chamuel took second place, while The Swon Brothers placed third.

Bradbery, a petite 16-year-old who was bullied because of her teeth as a kid, had no professional singing experience when she auditioned for the show. She sang a Taylor Swift song, and turned three chairs. She quickly became a fan favorite with her sweet disposition and pure voice.

"I'm so thankful. I'm sorry -- I'm speechless," said Bradbery after her win.

It was a very good night for Shelton, who was celebrating his birthday. Bradbery's win marks Shelton's third win on the show. He also won last season with Cassadee Pope and season two with Jermaine Paul.

It was announced earlier this week that Robin Thicke will be touring on the Overexposed European Tour next year after the dates were postponed from this summer to next winter.

The Voice Coaches Perform The Beatles 'With a Little Help From My Friends'

The Voice season 4 coaches performing.
The three acts still standing on NBC's The Voice sang for the championship on Monday, June 17, and whoever wins will be making show history in some way: The Swon Brothers would be the first winning duo, Danielle Bradbery would be the youngest champion crowned to date and Michelle Chamuel would be an introductory win for first-time coach Usher.

The finals kicked off with the four coaches teaming up for The Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends," with Usher and Shakira meshing incredibly well with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Hopefully the two newbie coaches will rotate back into the red chairs on a future season. The top three performers also took the stage together for "Home" by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, alongside their fellow season four contestants.
Shelton had two acts in the season finale -- putting him exactly where he was at this point last season, which he eventually won with country crossover Cassadee Pope -- while Usher stayed strong with one singer. Here's how they vied for votes, one last time:

The Swon Brothers -- the first duo to ever make it to the finals on The Voice -- put their harmonies at the forefront with The Eagles' "I Can't Tell You Why," with Zach Swon on the baby grand and Colton Swon on guitar. "I was pretty critical of the last Eagles tune you did, but I gotta say ... you guys did an amazing job," said Levine.
The singing siblings, who have stayed true to themselves, each other and the classics of their genre all season long, were asked to bring back Anne Murray's version of "Danny's Song." They happily collected the exact same praise as when they performed it last week. "You guys did it such justice, it's almost like I disappeared for a moment and we weren't here," commended Usher. The boys then picked up their guitars for Brad Paisley's "Celebrity" with their coach Shelton and a ton of tongue-and-cheek humor.

Bradbery -- the 16-year-old who has been successfully reviving country classics and, Shelton says, has earned the respect of Nashville -- gave an encore performance of Pam Tillis' "Maybe It Was Memphis," while rocking another fabulous pair of sparkly cowboy boots. "You have just gone straight to the vein of America -- atta girl!" cheered Shakira, while Levine expressed for the millionth time that her voice is perfect and he's insanely jealous of Shelton for nabbing her at the blind auditions.
She took a final shot at an up-tempo track, "Born to Fly" by Sara Evans. Though she may not be kneeling onstage like Chamuel does, the purity of her voice -- and character -- has repeatedly translated country's appeal to the Voice's audience. "You, my friend, are definitely a special thing," said Usher, while Levine joked yet again, "Your perfection is beginning to bore me at this point!" She also blended well with Shelton onstage for "Timber, I'm Falling in Love" by Patty Loveless.

Chamuel reprised her theatrical rendition of Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble," which was just as fresh as the first time she debuted her version, but traveled across the stage with much more confidence. Her growth as an artist is self-evident -- for someone who couldn't even sing in front of her family, it looks like all the times Usher put her through out-of-the-box exercises have paid off.
Then, the "anything is possible if you just believe" archetype of the season returned to her vulnerabilities and emotions (and her mirror motif, with a twist) for "Why" by Annie Lennox. Though more physically subdued this time, she again proved that performing a song requires singing, acting and body language for a multidimensional show. "People should know that you're such a humble and sweet person," praised Shakira, "and when you have humility on one side and talent on the other hand, that makes the perfect recipe for long-term success." Chamuel then harmonized with her coach onstage during "One Love, One Life" by Beres Hammond.

Shakira, who declared herself a cheerleader for the evening, switched between Chamuel-style glasses, an Okies flag for the "Swon-cert" and a cowgirl hat for Bradbery. However, Levine didn't bother hiding his alliance -- the Maroon 5 front man openly expressed that Bradbery is going to be called the season four champion.
But that's for America to decide -- the winner will be crowned Tuesday, June 18, at 9 p.m. on NBC. The special two-hour finale will feature OneRepublic, Bob Seger, Bruno Mars, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera, Florida Georgia Line, Nelly and Hunter Hayes, as well as a highly anticipated guest performance by Cher, who will sing her single "Woman's World" off her upcoming album of the same name and mark her first live performance in more than a decade.

Matthew Morrison Wants to Make a Pop Collaboration with Adam Levine

'Glee' star Matthew Morrison wants to work with label boss Adam Levine on a "pop collaboration"

The 'Glee' singer-and-actor was snapped up by the Maroon 5 frontman for his new record label and the pair have discussed joining forces on a song, despite having different musical styles.

While Matthew's new album, 'Where It All Began', is more jazz and blues inspired, Adam is best known for making thumping pop-rock songs with his band.

Matthew said: "We've certainly talked about [a collaboration]. Our styles and sounds are quite different but he loves my album so much and he's a big fan of that type of music. But you wouldn't think it because he's such a rock star."

Although he's used to being in front of the camera after playing glee club teacher Mr. Schuester for four years, Matthew insists filming his first music video was completely "different" to his usual work.

He explained: "They are so different but I love both. With 'Glee', you learn lines, you show up and you're good to go. But with a music video, you get involved with everything and it's a lot more personal."

However, the singer admits he relied on his 'Glee' connections when it came to shooting his music video so he could cut costs.

He added in an interview with Reveal magazine: "I pulled a lot of favours from 'Glee', luckily. We shot the video at some studios in LA and they have a famous set of a New York backstreet, so we used it. It's very expensive to rent out an actual NYC street, but they gave me the 'Glee' family discount which was good."

Adam Levine Talks with Jimmy Fallon

Adam Levine does his best music impressions, talks about his voice, and Maroon 5

Adam Levine stopped by the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to talk about the band Maroon 5, 'The Voice' remaining contestants, and even did some impressions on the late night television show.

Yesterday morning (June 14), pop rock band Maroon 5 played the Today Show's annual Toyota Concert Series event performing their later hits "Love Somebody" and "One More Night" as well as "Payphone", featuring Wiz Khalifa, and "She Will Be Loved." Maroon 5 Heat Up Rockefeller Plaza on Today Show

Maroon 5 perform third consecutive year on the TODAY show Toyota Concert Series on NBC

On a chilly June morning in New York, it's imperative that someone come along to heat up the throngs in the TODAY plaza. Fortunately, Maroon 5 were booked for Toyota Concert Series duties, and did just that on Friday -- playing three of their hits and chatting with the show's complement of hosts.

The Grammy-winning band of James Valentine (guitar), Mickey Madden (bass), Matt Flynn (drums), and "The Voice" mentor/band singer Adam Levine kept the vocal, packed crowd bouncing with tunes like "One More Night," "Love Somebody" and "Payphone." (Extra stand-in members PJ Morton on keyboard and Sam Farrar on guitar also backed them up.)

The band has been together for over 10 years now (and Levine and Madden have been buds since 7th grade), but Levine admitted that "television shows like 'The Voice' helped a lot" in getting them more well known. "All of these things happened in an amazing way; we're stoked," he added.

But now that he's been mentoring and judging on "Voice" for two seasons, Savannah Guthrie wondered if Levine had started sharing a few "pointers" with his bandmates.

"No, they definitely don't like that!" said Levine, then corrected himself: "And I don't do that."

But when his bandmates were queried, they all said "no comment."

"No comment!" cried Levine. "See, he hates me."

Fortunately, the band has a way to keep egos in check -- they're frank with one another and will happily tell the offending member if he's turning into an irritant.

Chuckled Levine, "It happens like three times a week."

Maroon 5 hit the road on Aug. 1 in St. Louis for a 31-date tour featuring Kelly Clarkson.

The Voice Recap: Amber Carrington Eliminated from 'The Voice'

Amber Carrington on The Voice as seen on NBC.
Adam Levine's only contestant is eliminated from NBC's The Voice this season

Usher and Shakira arrived at The Voice‘s Top 5 results night wearing black. Was it foreshadowing that their Season 4 journeys were about to take a turn for the funereal?

After all, the neophyte coaches’ last respective contestants — Michelle Chamuel and Sasha Allen — were the only two acts who didn’t crack the iTunes Top 10 singles based on their Monday-night performances and thus didn’t see their iTunes votes multiplied by 10.

But, of course, no results show can extend a full hour based solely on an announcement that can be spat out in 10 seconds. And so we were treated to a rare cavalcade of performances from Voice finalists of the past — Tony Lucca, Nicholas David and Terry McDermott (but sadly, not Amanda Brown) — as well as Fall Out Boy and a chopped-up Top 5 group rendition of a Poison power ballad.

After that, it was time to determine who’ll be competing in next week’s finale. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Adam Levine talks about his only contestant left on The Voice, success & more

Amber Carrington is the last member of Team Adam Levine on “The Voice” and she is feeling the pressure.

“Yeah, it is a lot of pressure because the team has been so fierce since the beginning,” Amber said last Friday as she hit the recording studio to lay down tracks and speak with journalists. “Team Adam, I feel like has been one of the best teams overall, so being the last one on the team, I feel like I need to fill all of those shoes and take it to the end.”

Amber said she really hopes she can take Team Adam to the finish line.

“I wanna win so bad with him,” she said.

Amber recently returned from a hometown visit (to Rockwall, Texas) and she said she has friends coming to town this week – friends who are big fans of Adam.

“My best friends are coming out this week and [one of them], she’s like, ‘So, can you let me meet Adam?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, probably not,’” Amber laughed.

“I’m thinking about… getting him to kind of wave at them or something,” she added. “We’ll see.”

“The Voice” continues Monday night at 8/c on NBC.

Amber Carrington Performs Maroon 5's 'Sad'

The Voice contestant sings Maroon 5's single-worthy ballad "Sad"

In dedication to her best friends, Amber Carrington took on Katy Perry's most vocally ambitious song, "Firework" (and got a piece of good luck from Perry beforehand as well). Shakira commended her for performing the "nightmare song" well, and Shelton praised her versatility beyond the country genre. In dedication to her family and friends, Carrington sang Maroon 5's "Sad" which was written by Levine and his guitarist, James Valentine. "The fact that you can make one of Adam's songs that beautiful, that's doing something!" teased Shelton. "I can't wait to buy your record."

STORY: Carson Daly: Un-American Idol (Opinion)

The two singers with the lowest votes will be sent home Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC. The episode will feature a guest performance by season three runner-up, Scottish rocker Terry McDermott.

What did you think of tonight’s performances? Will a lady take the title once again, or will a duo win for the first time and make Voice history? Who had the best set tonight: Allen's disco stage or Chamuel's electronic dance club? Sound off in the comments section below.

Maroon 5 Release Behind-the-Scenes Video for 'Love Somebody'

Go behind-the-set of Maroon 5' video for "Love Somebody"

Maroon 5 are onto their fourth single from 2012's "Overexposed," and now they've got an eye-popping video to go with it. In the Rich Lee-directed clip for "Love Somebody," Adam Levine and his bandmates find themselves enveloped in blue-gray paint as they play their dancefloor-lite jam, which was co-written by OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder.

Levine finds himself shirtless as more and more of his body is revealed, and actress Gemma Palombo guests as the object of the singer's affection. Eventually she slides back into the whiteness, and Levine seemingly erases his true love... and himself.

The music video premiered this past Monday (May 20) on "The Voice," where Levine serves as a vocal coach. "Love Somebody" has not yet entered the Hot 100 chart, although, judging by Maroon 5's track record, it's only a matter of time. "Overexposed's" previous singles -- "Payphone," "One More Night," and "Daylight" -- peaked at 2, 1, and 7, respectively.

'Love Somebody' Climbs Up Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Maroon 5 scores another hit as "Love Somebody" climbs 54-37 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100

Maroon 5's new single "Love Somebody" makes a remarkable jump on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week as it jumps 54-37 on the tally. Last week, the pop rock band's single "Daylight" fell off the top 40 of the Hot 100 singles chart while this week "Love Somebody" takes charge as the band's newest radio hit single. The music video for "Love Somebody" is just at the pinnacle of passing 8,000,000 views on YouTube and VEVO. The dance-pop single also moved up 29-27 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, jumps 21-15 on the Adult Pop Songs chart.

On other chart notes, Maroon 5's newest Overexposed single "Love Somebody" also takes a large jump from 60-41 on the U.S. Billboard Radio Songs chart, and moves up 29-27 on the Digital Songs chart.

Maroon 5's fourth studio album Overexposed jumps up 38-26 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart this week. It also re-enters the Catalog Albums chart at No. 16. The album's one year anniversary is about three weeks away as last year on June 26, 2012, the album was released in the United States. Also, Maroon 5's single "One More Night" almost a year ago as well on June 19 last year.

"The Blessed Unrest," Sara Bareilles' third studio album, is set for a July 16 release on Epic Records, and the pop singer-songwriter is previewing her latest full-length with a behind-the-scenes webisode series dubbed "Sara Bareilles Makes a Record." After Bareilles launched the first two parts online over the past week, Part 3 of the series is debuting exclusive at Billboard.com -- watch it below:

The third portion of "Sara Bareilles Makes a Record" focuses on "Brave," the upcoming album's lead single, currently at No. 19 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The "Love Song" and "King of Anything" singer is shown working with producer Mark Endert on the song, perfecting its percussion, and discussing her mainstream aspirations.

"Of course I want my songs on the radio. It's an amazing platform to share your music and your message with the world," says Bareilles in the video. "But at the same time, I don't need a radio hit so bad that I am willing to do anything for it. At the end of the day, the integrity of my art is way more important to me."

Recorded over the past six months, "The Blessed Unrest" follows 2010's "Kaleidoscope Heart," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold a total of 441,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
