Adam Levine stopped and talked with MTV writer and editor John Walker about Maroon 5's upcoming fifth studio album, V, which is set to drop on September 2.

Firstly, talking about Maroon 5's collaboration with No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, Levine says: “She’s incredible. It was so much fun,” Adam said of the No Doubt front woman, who was announced as a new coach on this fall’s season of “The Voice” back in April. “We just sat around and talked for hours. It was so fantastic getting to know her. I’m a huge fan of hers.” “It’s being mixed right now,” he revealed, “so I literally have not even named the song yet.” Adam did add that it’s “probably gonna be between two titles,” but wouldn't divulge anything further.

When asked about song titles and such on V, Levine was quick to reply stating: “I can’t let you know everything. I’ve gotta save some of my tricks for later.”

“This album is very much all over the place," Adam said after being asked in which direction does the new album point toward. "There’s some stuff on our record that sounds a little like early Maroon 5, and then there’s some stuff that sounds like the newer direction that we went in. I think that’s kind of the idea behind the album. It’s our fifth record. [Five] is literally part of our name. We thought we’d get back to certain elements that we’d been missing out on for a while with our original sound, but also bridge the gap with the new stuff that we’ve been doing. I think it’s an all-encompassing kind of record.”
