Maroon 5's very own Adam Levine, James Valentine, and Jesse Carmichael visited French radio station NRJ earlier this week to speak about the new album, their relationship with One Republic, and their next single "Sugar", from the album V.
Adam Levine first spoke about One Republic, who had made a stop in France on their Native World Tour, and talked about how close he is with Ryan Tedder and Co. "Those are our buddies," he said. "We wrote a couple of songs on the last record, 'Love Somebody' and "Lucky Strike.' And on this album we did a song called 'New Love' and it's just this really, cool, weird kind of experimentation-al, bizarre thing." Guitarist James Valentine then continued to joke around, saying "We're gonna fill their dressing room with bubbles."
Maroon 5 had stopped by Paris earlier this week to promote their new album - V - by performing their newest hit single "Animals" on The X Factor.
After being asked what V-track will follow-up the top 10 hits "Maps" and "Animals" next as a single, singer Adam Levine said "Sugar!" He continued to say, "Sugar is the best song ever written. I love it a lot and it's probably one of my favorites on the new album. It's just a really cool [...] it has a late-70's and early 80's, slightly Prince-y vibe, that's kind of amazing, I love it." Levine went on to insist that "Sugar" was indeed "very French" and that it would make for "a very French single" for radio.
Back in September, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael confirmed that the band would be filming a music video for "Sugar" sometime later this year, most likely in November, in Los Angeles, currently unknown of the director. "Sugar" is expected to impact U.S. radio in late 2014.
