5 Things To Anticipate From Maroon 5 In 2015

Maroon 5 live in 2010.
Goodbye 2014, hello 2015!

Every year at the end of December, I make a blog post about the top five things that we can all look forward to as fans of Maroon 5 in the future for the new coming year.

It's safe to say that 2014 has been one of the most monumental years in Maroon 5's career: scoring their 2nd No. 1 album V, achieving their 7th No. 1 Mainstream Pop Songs chart hit with "Animals", causing controversy with Sexual Assault Support Groups, touring with Robin Thicke. The list could go on and on. But we're here to talk about 2015. So let's get started.

5. More new singles and music videos

We can obviously expect more new singles to dominate the radio with and even better music videos to offend the SASG with (okay, maybe not to offend anyone), but Maroon 5's gold-certified V album is chock-full of amazing pop-centric hits that are begging to be looped on pop radio. "Sugar" is set to be released to top 40 radio this January along with it's highly anticipated music video which has a wedding-crash-themed plot. Some options for possible upcoming singles that could takeover 2015 from V would be the promo-single "It Was Always You", the electro-R&B-clash "Unkiss Me", or the disco-EDM driven "Feelings." Or maybe the Gwen Stefani collabo-ballad "My Heart Is Open" will garner some attention and become Maroon 5's next big hit?

4. Maybe a 'Voice' win?

Ok. So the last time we saw Adam Levine win a season of The Voice was over a year ago in December 2013 (season 5) when Levine and his finalist, Jamaican reggae-pop singer Tessanne Chin took home the prize and won the label contract. Since, Usher and his finalist Josh Kaufman won the show's 6th season and Blake and his finalist Craig Wayne Boyd won the recently-ended 7th season. Season 8 is set to kick off in February with a fresh line-up of Levine, Blake, Pharrell, and returning coach Christina Aguilera, and the hit NBC show is signed on for at least 2 more season going into 2016, so we still have 3 seasons to look forward to seeing Levine and a finalist of his possibly take home the grand prize.

3. Maroon children?

What I mean by Maroon children is... yes... maybe we can see Adam and Behati having their first child together as a newly-wed couple. 'Nuff said. Or maybe Matt, Sam, PJ, or Mickey can have a child with their parters? We'll have to just wait and see.

2. Maroon 5 world tour with MAGIC! and Rozzi Crane

When Maroon 5 announced to the world a day prior to the release of their highly anticipated album - V - that they were hitting the road again in 2015, fans were eager to get their hands on those tickets. But when they announced that up-and-coming pop rock group MAGIC! and Rozzi Crane were supporting Maroon 5 on the tour, fans were even more excited. Crane is someone very important to more of the Maroon 5 super fandom than anyone, as she's a gem to Levine, who signed her to his label 222 Recordings in 2012. MAGIC!, who has been parred up to Maroon 5 as one of the reigning pop rock bands of 2014, is one of the year's biggest stars dominating the year with their No. 1 hit "Rude" and are recently further proving their amazement with the recent single, "Let Your Hair Down." The tour kicks off in February in Texas and is set to embark in Europe, North America, and even Africa next year. More dates to be released.

1. "Sugar" music video

We first got word of "Sugar" being the next big hit from Maroon 5 back in September long before the "Animals" video even became a politicized issue, during a live Q&A session on Reddit when keyboardist Jesse Carmichael announced that a music video for "Sugar" was in the works and that the song would serve as the third single from V. Earlier this month, photos of the band on the set of the music video leaked onto the Internet of them dressed dapper in suits and small 6-second Vine clips of the band crashing an actual wedding surfaced. This got fans really anxious and excited to see what the band had in store for the new video, which is expected to drop sometime in late January or early February, reports say.

Maroon 5 Ranks on Rolling Stone's Best Pop Albums of 2014 List

Maroon 5 performing in 2014.
Maroon 5's V beats out Ed Sheeran, Pharrell and more on Rolling Stone's top 20 Pop Albums of 2014

Rolling Stone magazine issued their Top 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014 list earlier today (Fri, Dec. 9) on their website, and Maroon 5's fifth effort, V made the cut charting at #4 on the list.

See what Rolling Stone had to say about Maroon 5's V on the list below:
Since their 2002 debut, the pop-rock stylings of Maroon 5 have increasingly become more pop than rock (on V, Sia, Ryan Tedder and Rodney "Darkchild" Jenkins all add exciting layers) and the band's ability to make catchy singles has increasingly become more nuanced and effortless. V is the sound of a band fully relaxing into their position as the Top 40's house band, with "Maps" and "Animals" ruling the summer with addicting choruses and electro-pop-tinged energy.

Adam Levine says he was "shocked" with the outcome

Adam Levine spoke with press on last night's red carpet event (Tues. Dec 16) following NBC's The Voice's season 7 finale aired live.

In an interview with Synergy, he mentioned working with his team on their original songs and collaborations for the show's finale. "I didn't have any time. I was on planes, and playing shows, and constantly on the phone just talking to my team and how to sing this and how to approach that, and here and gone and I can't even stand up straight right now," Adam Levine explains after being asked what it was like to work with his contestants over the last few busy weeks.

The Voice's season 7 finale was held last night and Team Blake's finalist Craig Wayne Boyd ended up winning, following Team Usher's Josh Kaufman won on season 6 in May 2014.

The Voice is set to return for its 8th season in February next year with coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton.

Adam, Blake, Pharrell, and Gwen perform "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" on The Voice finale

What better way to end a great and amazing season of The Voice then a spectacular performance of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" by our favorite coaches.

Coaches Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani took it to The Voice stage to perform one of the best Christmas songs of all time on The Voice's 7th season finale tonight (Tues, Dec. 16) on NBC. The show's finale featured guest performaces from Jessie J, Meghan Trainor, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, Fall Out Boy, and even Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Team Blake's Craig Wayne Boyd won the 7th season marking it in the books as Blake Shelton's 4th win on the US version of the show's entirety since it's launch in March of 2011. Coach Adam Levine has won the show with his contestants Javier Colon (season 1) and Tessanne Chin (season 5).

The Voice Live Recap: Craig Wayne Boyd Vs. Matt McAndrew For The 'Voice' Win

The Voice season 7 finalists.
Craig Wayne Boyd is crowned The Voice with coach Blake Shelton, Matt comes in 2nd place

On tonight's live season 7 finale of NBC's reality show The Voice, performances and guest appearances got us through the evening's final results night as the winner of The Voice was crowned.

First off, the night's first performance kicked off with the show's Top 20 contestants performing Bastille's number-one hit single "Pompeii" on The Voice stage (which could have been arguably better). Team Blake's Craig Wayne Boyd took the stage to perform Georgia Satellites' hit "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" with former contestants DeNica Shirey, Sugar Joans, and Taylor Brashears. Indie pop singer Hozier then took the stage to perform his single "Take Me To Church." Team Adam finalist Chris Jamison, Luke, Ricky, Ryan, and Taylor then took the stage to perform the 2011 hit "Dedication to My Ex" by Lloyd and Andre 3000. Team Adam finalist then followed-up with a performance with pop punk band Fall Out Boy singing "Centuries" on stage.

Former Voice contestants Bryana Salaz, DeNica Shirey, Jean Kelley, Mia Pfirrman, and Sugar Joans performed one of the better performances of the night, singing "Bang Bang" by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj. Bruno Mars and Grammy Award-winning producer Mark Ronson took the stage to perform "Uptown Funk." Class rock 'n roll band Lynyrd Skynyrd then took the stage to perform "Sweet Home Alabama" with Team Blake's Craig Wayne Boyd. One of 2014's largest breakout stars Meghan Trainor performed "Lips Are Movin'" live on stage. Team Adam finalist Damien Lawson then performed the soulful-jazzy hit "It's Your World" with Jennifer Hudson. Ed Sheeran then returned to The Voice after performing "One" on last season's finale, performing "Thinking Out Loud" on stage.

Following Sheerans' performance, Team Adam's finalist Matt McAndrew performed "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac with Taylor John, Taylor Phelan, Mia Pfirrman, and Sugar Jones. Team Adam finalist Damien Lawson brought back DaNica, Anita, and Elijah to perform "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" originally by Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell. Team Adam finalist Chris Jamison performed with Jessie J singing her new single "Masterpiece" live on stage.

The final performance of the night was coaches Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton performing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", and fans and viewers cheered and sang along joyfully at home.

Finally, the winner of The Voice was crowned. Fourth place was Team Adam's Damien Lawson. The third place contestant was Team Adam's Chris Jamison. And the winner was announced to be... Team Blake's Craig Wayne Boyd, leaving Team Adam's Matt McAndrew in second place.

The Voice is set to return for it's 8th season in February 2015 on NBC with coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, and Blake Shelton!

Top 5 Maroon 5 Covers of 2014

Adam Levine performing in 2014.
We're counting down the Top 5 best and coolest Maroon 5 cover of 2014

Well, 2014 is coming to a very abrupt and exciting end. And with every end of the year comes end of the year lists and today we are giving you a list of the Top 5 YouTube covers of famous Maroon 5 songs that were published by inspired musicians over the past year in 2014. Everything from a vintage pop-soul cover to a melodic hardcore/screamo cover, we tried to reach a larger spectrum than just your average singer-songwriter cover.

So, with that said. Let's get started.

5. "Sunday Morning" cover by Justin Robinett

Source: http://youtu.be/iaQl0MQwjE4

Meet Justin Robinett. He uploads cover videos of himself performing hit songs, and in this case, covered Maroon 5's earlier hits from Songs About Jane, "Sunday Morning." Robinett put on a cool and rather slick "one man band" performance for this video, which grasped my attention the most. And of course, his rich voice and multi-instrumental talent.

4. "Maps" cover by Madilyn Bailey

Source: http://youtu.be/OnwA8ekQKtQ

This cover is especially one of the more sweeter-sounding covers on our Top 5 list. Madilyn Bailey took Maroon 5's single "Maps", from their new album V, and turned into a rather sad, yet beautiful piano ballad.

3. "Maps" cover by Morgan James and Scott Bradlee

Source: http://youtu.be/8gO_lxThc1M

One very unusual, and yet very frickin' awesome cover is done here by vocalist Morgan James and piano man Scott Bradlee singing and performing "Maps" in the style of a "vintage 1970's soul band." It is one thing to take a Maroon 5 hit and turn in into a slower piano ballad of your own, but this group of talented performers took a very interesting turn and put a very unexpected twist on the Ryan Tedder-produced track.

2. "Maps" cover by Max Schneider and Alyson Stoner

Source: http://youtu.be/jaPn5pXtkuI

Everyone that has a YouTube channel knows the very well-known Internet famous people Kurt and Max Schneider, who borrowed former Disney channel superstar Alyson Stoner's vocals to perform a rad and speedy cover of Maroon 5's "Maps." And like most Kurt and Max's cover videos, it involves a one-take shot and hi-NRG moments such as lip-syncing a cool dance-party house with lights and smoke and a cool patio. May we remind you of the cover-medley of Maroon 5 hits that Max and Kurt did in 2012 with Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice? (Check that out!)

1. "Maps" cover by Our Last Night

Source: http://youtu.be/qjrUDZoqWRY

Now argue with me all you want on this one, but this hardcore/hard rock-inspired cover of Maroon 5's hit song "Maps" done by New Hampshire-based alt. punk band Our Last Night is one of the most energetic and amazing covers done of Maroon 5 in 2014. And we have to give OLN some love and attention for their amazing talent, for they might look young to you, however they've been a rock band for over a decade, releasing 4 studio albums, 4 EP albums, a compilation album, and they've uploaded over 20 rock covers of famous pop hits (recently Tove Lo's "Habits" and Katy Perry's "Dark Horse") over the last few years.

Adam Levine Sings 'Ignition' Remix At 'Voice' Press Concert

Adam Levine performing.
Adam Levine takes on R. Kelly at The Hyde in Hollywood

"I'm gonna do a song that's not a Maroon 5 song, but it's okay, it is an R. Kelly song," said Adam Levine before taking on one of R. Kelly's largest songs of his career "Ignition (Remix)."

The Voice coaches performed a private concert session for a press junket last Tuesday (Dec. 9) at The Hyde lobby in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. Coach Adam Levine performed the 2005 Maroon 5 single, "Sunday Morning", using his angelic voice and his slick electric guitar before taking on the explicit "Ignition (Remix)" hit originally by R. Kelly.

The Voice season 7 finale week starts next Monday, December 15 with the Top 4 contestants performing live for America's votes. Fans and viewers have been using The Voice's new app to vote in real-time. On Tuesday, December 16, the season 7 finale episode will reveal the winner of the show.

Team Adam Alum Rebekah Samarin 'Baffled' By Lack of TV Time

Rebekah Samarin (left) and Adam Levine.
The Voice season 7 Team Adam contestant spoke out about her time on the NBC show

Remember Team Adam contestant Rebekah Samarin from the current running season of The Voice? No? Well, there is probably a reason why.

This last summer, the Murrieta, California native folk-pop singer auditioned for the show during it's blind auditions by singing Joni Mitchell's single "A Case Of You", a sweet-and-slow folk pop tune released in 1971. Immediately following the first verse being sung by Samarin, coach Gwen Stefani hit her button and soon after was sure enough, coach Adam Levine. After choosing to be on Team Adam, her role on the show seemed almost fanciful and non-existant. But why? Well, producers and editing supervisors seemed to have cut her final performances out from the show, including all of her Blind Audition, Battle Round, and Knockout round performances.

Read the singer's statement via Twitter below.
NBC's The Voice season 7 finale airs live next Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c!

Team Adam Contestant Chris Jamison Perform's Maroon 5's 'Sugar'

Team Adam.
The Voice contestant performs a new Maroon 5 single, "Sugar" ahead of release

"Sugar" has yet to be released for top 40 and adult contemporary radio and the Maroon 5 frontman suggested his contestant on The Voice, Chris Jamison, sing a new Maroon 5 tune, on the show.

Chris Jamison took on the new V hit on stage last night (Mon, Dec 8) on NBC's The Voice and it was nothing short of spectacular. Better than the original? Some may debate and argue. However, it is the first time in the show's entirety a contestant performed a new song originally by their coach on stage prior to the new song's release.

Team Adam is the only team on the remainder of this season to have the most contestants, with 3: Chris Jamison, Damien, and Matthew McAndrew. Teams Blake, Pharrell, and Gwen each have one contestant standing.

Watch The Voice tonight live to see who will be eliminated from the show at 8/7c on NBC!

Maroon 5 Get Dapper In New 'Sugar' Music Video

Maroon 5 on the set of "Sugar."
Maroon 5 suit up for their upcoming "Sugar" video

Earlier today (Thurs, Dec. 4), photos of what seemed like Maroon 5 on the set of the music video for their upcoming single, "Sugar", leaked onto Twitter.

Here's what we know so far. "Sugar" will indeed serve as the third single from Maroon 5's gold-certified fifth album - V - set to impact pop radio on January 13. One photo that leaked displays Mickey, PJ, Sam, James, Adam, Jesse, and Matt all dressed up and dapper in suits-and-bowties in a fancy hotel lobby. Other photos show the frontman Adam Levine driving a classic convertible down a Los Angeles street.

Here's what we don't know. The photos have not been confirmed to be of the band on the set of "Sugar", however we can assume so, considering that Jesse and Mickey hinted at a new video for the soon-to-be-single on a Q&A session on Reddit and Adam Levine confirmed that information later on at a France radio station last month. We also don't know when "Sugar" will be released, but we can expect it to drop sometime in late January/early February.

Guitarist Jesse Carmichael posted a photo of his fellow band mates, Mickey and James, dapper in their suits behind-the-scenes standing in front of a red curtain.

You can view the leaked photos below:

Maroon 5 is performing on the A Very Grammy Christmas Special tomorrow (Fri, Dec. 5) at 9pm ET/PT on CBS! Don't miss it.
