Maroon 5 at Billboard Music Awards: Hits or Misses?

Maroon 5 take home 0 trophies from the 2015 Billboard Music Awards 

The 2015 Billboard Music Awards took place tonight (Sun, May 17) broadcasted live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on ABC Network and pop rock outfit Maroon 5 were nominated three times at the music award ceremony.

Did they take home any trophies? Unfortunately, not this year. 

The band was nominated for Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Duo/Group, and Top Radio Songs Artist and lost to all three. Taylor Swift's 1989 took home the Top Billboard 200 Album award, One Direction grabbed the award for Top Duo/Group, and Sam Smith won the Top Radio Songs Artist award.

Throughout the past year, Maroon 5 has managed to continue their relavent stance in pop culture and music with their pop-perfected platinum-selling album, V, topping the Billboard 200 for a week selling over 100 thousand units in it's first week, and achieving 3 top 10 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Pop Songs chart, and Mainstream Pop Songs chart with the hits "Maps", "Animals", and "Sugar." The band also toured extensively on their 2015 Maroon 5 World Tour this year with supporting acts MAGIC! and Rozzi Crane. 

Maroon 5 recently released their brand new single "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf***ker" off of the forthcoming reissue of their fifth studio effort V. The band will be performing the single live on NBC's The Voice's season 8 finale on Tuesday, May 19.
