Can Maroon 5 beat One Direction for Artist of the Year?

Earlier this morning (Tuesday, Oct. 13), the full list of categories and nominations were revealed for the 43rd annual American Music Awards, which is set to be aired live on Sunday, November 22, 2015. And yes, our favorite pop band Maroon 5 are nominated for two major awards this year.

Maroon 5 are nominated this year for Favorite Pop Rock Group Duo/Group, up against One Direction and Walk the Moon, and Artist Of the Year, up against Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor, The Weeknd, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift, and One Direction.

Fans were specially shocked when Maroon 5's V album was not up for Favorite Pop/Rock Album, in which X by Ed Sheeran, 1989 by Taylor Swift, and In the Lonely Hour by Sam Smith are nominees.

It is spectated that Maroon 5 may be performing their latest single, "Feelings", at the award ceremony. However, that has not yet been confirmed.

Maroon 5 were not nominated at last year's 42nd annual American Music Awards. Overall, L.A. pop rockers have been nominated for 7 American Music Awards in total and have won 3 overall, including the Favorite Pop Rock Duo/Group award twice, in 2011 and 2012.

Don't miss the 2015 American Music Awards airing live on Sun, Nov. 22nd on ABC!
