"She's my painkiller", Adam Levine croons in Rozzi's new single, "Painkiller"

Rozzi Crane just recently dropped her debut EP album, entitled Space to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine's record label of 222 Recordings on February 16 to iTunes.

The album's fourth track, "Painkiller" is wildly praised by fans of Crane's due to it's extravigent and unique synth-meets-neo soul sound and Levine's necessary gloomy and mellow feature singing the song's chorus. The song was written by the Maroon 5 frontman and Crane herself. "Painkiller" first made it's debut earlier last year when Crane performed it live whilst opening for Gavin Degraw at the Westbury in New York City.

Crane's new album also features the single "Crazy Ass Bitch", which was released in the early part of last year as well, however Crane debuted it while touring with Maroon 5 on their 2013 Overexposed Tour in North America. The song was also leaked onto the web with a guest feature of rapper Kendrick Lamar.

Atlanta Stagehands to Picket Maroon 5 Concert in Atlanta

Phillips Arena will be surrounded by unhappy backstage employees and Stagehands protesters

It was revealed earlier this week that Atlanta Stagehands will be holding a protesting event outside of the Maroon 5 concert in Atlanta tonight (Thurs, Feb. 19) at the Phillips Arena.

Here's more information on the event:
This Thursday’s performance onstage at the Maroon 5 concert in Atlanta will be great, but backstage it’s a different story. Stagehands work in poor conditions, are paid poverty-level wages, with no benefits – for a job that is often dangerous. On Thursday evening, outside Philips Arena, stagehands and their supporters will hold banners and approach concertgoers with information on this and other “poor performances.”

In most major cities and outdoor concert venues, including southern cities such as Birmingham and Charlotte, concert promoter Live Nation pays union-scale wages and stagehands receive benefits and payroll taxes are paid to the state –not in Atlanta. At Philips Arena and venues around the Perimeter, Live Nation uses Crew One, a temping firm that acts as a middleman, to staff concerts. Crew One treats stagehands as independent contractors and avoids paying payroll taxes to the State of Georgia. Workers receive little training, no benefits and sometimes don’t even get water to drink.

Last summer, the roughly 400 stagehands who work for Crew One on Live Nation productions and the shows of other promoters voted by a 2 to 1 margin to form a union. Crew One has refused to bargain with workers despite rulings from the federal National Labor Relations Board.

Shows at Philips Arena and other area venues are primarily “promoter choice.” Concert promoter Live Nation, a publicly-traded corporation with $22 billion in annual revenues, a company that also owns Ticketmaster and charges concertgoers hefty fees on top of high ticket prices could easily correct these substandard conditions. Live Nation has turned a blind eye.

The mistreatment of Atlanta stagehands by employers in the industry is drawing the attention of state lawmakers and the national media. A few days ago, the Washington Post documented the abuses Atlanta stagehands face in a story entitled “How Live Nation exploits low-wage workers to stage its rock concerts.” In January, the magazine In These Times also reported on poor conditions faced by Crew One workers in a story, “Atlanta Stagehands Fight ‘Labor Pimps’ Pushing Temp Work, Low Wages.”

Full Concert: Maroon 5 Kicks Off 'V' Tour In Dallas At American Airlines Center

Maroon 5 performing on the 2013 Honda Civic Tour with Kelly Clarkson.
Maroon 5 performs kick ass kickoff to their V world tour with Rozzi Crane, MAGIC!

Mix 932-FM uploaded Maroon 5's entire first concert of their 2015 Maroon 5 World Tour yesterday (Tues, February 17) to their official YouTube page and now fans alike can view the event in it's entirety.

Here's a statement from the radio station's website:
Maroon 5 rocked American Airlines Center last night as they kicked off their world tour in Dallas. Adam Levine and his band mates played hit after hit while fans sang along with every song.

Opening for Maroon 5 was Rozzi Crane, who Adam signed to his record label 222, and Magic! notable for their hit song, ‘Rude.’

About 9:15 the house lights dimmed, and the stage was set for Maroon 5 to begin. Smoke began filtering onto the stage, green lights flashed and jungle sounds began carrying through the arena. The fans were primed for ‘Animals.’

We weren’t disappointed. The set list featured hit after hit, ‘One More Night’ into ‘Stereo Hearts,’ ‘Harder to Breather,’ ‘Lucky Strike’ and ‘Wake Up Call.’

Finally they paused for a breath and welcomed everyone to the first night of the tour, and admitting there could be a few mistakes. ‘…if we screw up tonight – don’t hold it against us, Levine said. ‘We’re getting our touring legs back.’

They rolled into ‘Love Somebody,’ followed by ‘Maps,’ ‘Misery’ and then the band introductions. Adam Levine remarked that he knew two of his band mates since they were all 11 years old, and others nearly as long. After throwing in that Sam Farrar and he had written ‘Sunday Morning’ at age 18, they launched into it as well.

The sing along continued with interesting live takes on each song including ‘Makes Me Wonder,’ and an a capella intro into ‘Payphone.’ After ‘Daylight’ the band said goodnight and exited the stage as the lights went dark, but fans knew not to move from their seats.

After a few dark minutes, fans noticed a white piano under a black spot light emerging from beneath the ‘v’ at the end of the stage catwalk. Soon after, Levine and pianist PJ Morton strolled out to perform ‘My Heart is Open,’ from their current album.

James Valentine then toted an acoustic guitar down the catwalk, and Levine told the story of how they wrote ‘She Will Be Loved’ together at the age of 21 before performing the song.

At this point, I moved to a lower section and watched as they invited Rozzi Crane onto the stage and she joined them on ‘Moves Like Jagger.’ Finally they brought down the house with their current single, ‘Sugar.’

The entire production was top notch. I enjoyed every minute of it, and it appeared that everyone else did as well. Fans of all ages were entertained, though I imagine some young fans and parents were surprised at the occasional profanity in songs and in between.

Maroon 5 perform an a capella version of "Payphone" at their 1st V Tour show

Kicking off their first show of their world tour yesterday (Monday, Feb. 16), pop rock outfit Maroon 5 debuted their set list for the V tour at the American Airlines Center in Dallas last night.

One amazing moment from last night's concert was when Maroon 5 took a break from behind their instruments and lined up front-row and center on stage: PJ, Jesse, Adam, Sam and James, beginning to sing their 2012 hit single, "Payphone" in a capella. Dans were astonished and surprised considering the fact that on the group's previous world tour they had opened with a gigantic curtain-dropping performance of the Overexposed hit.

Also, with the band's first concert now done and out of the way, fans know what to expect as far as what songs Maroon 5 is performing on this tour. The set list is displayed below.

Adam Levine Talks About 'Lost Stars', Performing At Oscars

Adam Levine singing.
Adam Levine's interview with The Hollywood Reporter will make you excited

Earlier this week, staff over at news site The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine about his upcoming performance of the Oscar-nominated song "Lost Stars" on The Academy Awards later this month.

Read what Adam Levine had to say below:
"It's such rarified air that we're gonna be in," Levine marveled when we spoke on Friday, "as far as being a musician at that particular show. I've always been a huge fan of the Oscars and the way they put it all together. It's the godfather of all awards shows. It's just so far removed from what I do." He added with a laugh, "Performing at the Oscars might be even better than being nominated."

An invitation from the Academy to sing on the stage of the Dolby in front of the biggest stars in the world and a television audience of hundreds of millions of people would be special under any circumstances, but Levine noted that this one has particular meaning for him: "It happened to me for a song that I sang in a movie that I was in, which makes it that much more special. That's rarely the case. Usually there's some sort of separation. It feels more legitimate and pure and involved in being there."
Speaking of his more extensive involvement in Begin Again — which happened to be my favorite film of 2014 — he still can't quite believe he was offered the opportunity. "It took a huge leap of faith on John Carney's part because I had never acted before. He reached out to me and asked me, pretty randomly, if I was interested in acting. I actually said to him [that I was] not, until he called." Levine said he quickly concluded, "If I only make one movie in my whole life, it seems like this one makes the most sense. I don't know where it will go from here, but that was my part. I really, truly believe that, and I'm really happy it came my way."

One of the things that most appealed to him about the film was that he could personally relate to the character that he was asked to play: a guy who rockets to super-stardom and doesn't handle everything perfectly. "This guy was going through a lot of what I had been through," Levine admitted. "When I saw it on paper, I just knew it was partially who I am and also part of what I think a lot of people go through when they experience any kind of success for the first time in music. Usually they're insecure, and insecurity and large amounts of success don't mix very well."

But even more important to him was the opportunity to sing songs co-written by Alexander. He gushed, "I've known Gregg Alexander forever, as far as following his career, and he's brilliant. I knew he could do amazing things." He continued, "I remember when I first heard the New Radicals album [the band released only one, in 1999]. It almost existed in a bubble." All of Alexander's songs, he said, have a rare quality: "They never sound 'decade-appropriate.' They always just sound timeless. To me, you can't tell if that New Radicals record is from the '80s or '90s or even the late-'70s or 2000s. His talent and his writing style is just incredibly timeless." He added, "People don't even really realize how many songs he's written. He's actually been a huge influence on so many songwriters and so many artists that have hits right now. Even our [Maroon 5's] song that we have out right now sounds like Gregg Alexander. He's underrated, in my opinion — until now."

Adam Levine Takes Part In Grammy Creative Alliance

Maroon 5 performing in 2013.
Adam Levine joins Steven Tyler, J-Hud, and more on the Grammy Creative Alliance

Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice coach Adam Levine is now apart of something called the Grammy Creative Alliance.

Read more on it below:
After the Grammys had announced their final award, handing over the honor of Record of the Year to Sam Smith for "Stay With Me," there was an announcement made about a new organization being created by the Grammys and a small bunch of superstar artists, songwriters and producers. Current head of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Neil Portnow introduced the group, titled the Grammy Creators Alliance, with Jennifer Hudson and Ryan Tedder and delivered their mission statement on air.

The group, which boasts members like deadmau5, Adam Levine, Steve Tyler, Dr. Luke, Alicia Keys, Lady Antelbellum and others has been created as the new Republican-led congress gets set to review copyright laws pertaining to the arts, notably in music the DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act), which has not had a substantial update since it was first enacted in 1998. As you might imagine with the advent of streaming and the rise of digital downloads, it is in desperate need of an update.

The Alliance promises to work for all artists as it claims on their newly minted section of the Grammys website, The GRAMMY Creators Alliance has been established to help today's leading artists, songwriters and studio professionals be a powerful voice in shaping music's future."

The main mission of the Alliance is to get artists paid fairly in the new environment of streaming. This comes as their is increasing hostility between giants like Spotify, Soundcloud and Pandora and artists who have shown that their payouts on millions of streams is nothing compared to a digital download.

The Alliance is right in its idea to try and get those who are the most vulnerable, the songwriters, producers, engineers etc., a proper cut of the deal, but it should not apply its old model of a bloated CD-based sales revenue stream to try and squeeze out the streaming services just to try and get an extra buck or two for some Nashville songwriters. The streaming services are not only sources of growing revenue for artists and labels, who bring in the largest percentage of revenue, but also a hugely important discovery platform that gives small artists a chance to get their break where they wouldn't have a chance to sniff big time 30 years ago.

The statement above was taken from an article published on Music Times. Here's the link:

Adam Levine May Sign Matt McAndrew to 222 Records

Adam Levine is signing Voice alum's check box tattoo

Earlier today (Thurs, Feb. 12), The Voice season 7 finalist and Team Adam alum Matthew McAndrew posted a photo of himself with his former coach Adam Levine on Facebook portraying Adam writing on a piece of paper.

The piece of paper may not be contract forms for signing McAndrew to his label, 222 Records, but it's a blank sheet of paper and appears to show several tries by Levine of writing a check box. Why, you ask? If you recall Matt's tattoo on the last season of The Voice, his arm had a tattoo on it resembling an empty box that he will someday tattoo a check mark on it once he got signed to a record label. So from looking at the photo, we can only assume Adam is writing the check mark in the empty box so Matt can take it in and get it tattooed on himself. And what other reason would Adam be doing the honor of writing his soon-to-be tattoo (which clearly means the world to Matt)?

We can only assume that this is a keen and unique way telling us that Adam is signing Matt to his label of 222 Records.

What do you guys think? Take a look at the photo and share with us what you think! Follow us on Twitter @M5NewsRoom.

A new Vine has surfaced on Matt McAndrew's official Twitter page! Check it out:
