Maroon 5 will make a "super artistic" record next year

Maroon 5 in 2015.
Maroon 5 teases live tour videos on Instagram, Levine confirms Maroon 5's 6th album

It's been a wildly busy year for the guys in pop rock band Maroon 5 and it looks like they are not planning on slowing down anytime soon.

In an interview with Howard Stern yesterday morning (Tue, Oct. 27), Adam Levine spoke about a ton of topics including his show The Voice's struggle launching successful recording artists, becoming a father with wife Behati Prinsloo, and touring. However, the Maroon 5 frontman also said that the band is planning on writing a sixth album. "I really want to do it ourselves, really make a great record, super artistic record," he told Howard.

Meanwhile, the band is hinting at something, but nobody can put their fingers on exactly what. Earlier today (Wed, Oct. 28), Maroon 5's official Instagram published a video of a very indistinctive shot of palm trees with static, shock-like noises (annoyingly) playing throughout the background, and towards the end of the 10 second clip is Maroon 5's popular red 5 logo. The post was put up on Facebook and Twitter as well. But that's not all that has happened. Throughout the last couple of days, Maroon 5 has teased unanticipated and unforeseen, yet similar short clips on their official Instagram surrounding Maroon 5 performing on stage.

Several fans online are speculating that Maroon 5 is teasing their next record (already) with these strange short clips. Others are reckoning that the L.A. devotees are planning on releasing or recording a live CD/DVD (the last time Maroon 5 released a live album was in 2005 – with Live–Friday the 13th). Another obvious guess at the short clips, of course, could be the band teasing their new "Feelings" music video.

Adam Levine talks about The Voice's failure to launch stars

Levine on Billboard magazine.
Levine spoke with Howard Stern about The Voice's obvious troubles launching stars

In a lengthy and entertaining interview on The Howard Stern Show yesterday morning (Tue, Oct. 27), Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine visited the show to speak about his band's success, the Super Bowl 50 rumors, and his frustration about his show The Voice's failure to launch any successful recording artists.

But that is just it, it's not NBC's fault, is it? People who have won The Voice, such as Josh Kaufman, Craig Wayne Boyd, Tessanne Chin, among several others, get carried on from the NBC platform to the recording industry world. Pop and rock artists who have won the show such as season 5's Chin or season 8's Sawyer Fredericks become signed artists under Universal Music Group's subsidiary of Republic Records while country and alternative artists who have won, season 3 winner Cassadee Pope for example, move onto UMG's Big Machine and Republic Nashville.

Here are some of the highlights from the interview.

Adam on Universal Music Group: "The rollout of all that is still such a mess and by the way, just to clarify, this has nothing to do with what happens on NBC or with the people. In that time, we do so much great s— for these singers, and then they go to a record label that I won’t mention. But they go to a record label that f—s it up."

Adam on post-Voice rollout: "Most of them don’t even [rush the winner into recording and writing with a bunch of producers that have zero connection to them]! You’d be shocked to see it. The show ends, and they’re like, ‘Okay, they don’t matter to me anymore.’ This is how they feel on the other end [...] I don’t understand why they don’t care. That’s what drives me absolutely bonkers. And then it makes me feel defeated on my end because there’s really not much I can do."

Adam on his feelings towards the post-Voice rollouts: "We get so attached and so passionate about helping these guys. And now it’s become this thing where I feel like after I want to be part of it, too, to whatever capacity I can. And I’m glad I’m saying this on air so maybe the label will get angry and fuck off, so we can get somebody else to do it."

Maroon 5 are 'current frontrunners' for performing at Super Bowl 50

Maroon 5 may curate next year's Super Bowl Halftime show in February

Maroon 5 may be performing in front of their largest audience to date.

It was confirmed today (Wed, October 21), by E! Online that pop rock band Maroon 5 are the "current front runners" on the list of plausible artists to perform at next year's Super Bowl halftime show.

If Maroon 5 were to perform at Super Bowl 50 (also dubbed "The Golden Super Bowl" and "Super Bowl L"), they would be following up this year's halftime show catered by mutli-platinum pop musician Katy Perry who performed at the Super Bowl XLIX in February, and showman Bruno Mars who performed with Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Super Bowl XLVIII in February of 2014.

Maroon 5 have an amalgam of hit singles that have been released in the last 15 years and would provide a perfect mix of rock, pop, and dance music.

Check out the official announcement below or in the link:
www.eonline.com/news/708264/adam-levine-and-maroon-5-in-talks-to-perform-during-super-bowl-50-halftime-show

Here is the official statement:
E! News can exclusively reveal that Levine and his band, Maroon 5, have had extensive talks about performing during halftime of Super Bowl 50 in 2016.

A source tells E! News the other acts the NFL have discussed at one point have included Coldplay and Bruno Mars, who just performed in 2014 at Super Bowl XLVIII. However, the source says Levine's band is the current front-runner for the gig.

The Super Bowl is perennially the most-watched television event of the year, as Perry's Super Bowl performance drew 121 million viewers, the highest viewership for the halftime special according to Nielsen. Mars' performance brought in 115 million, the second highest.
A rep for the NFL has not returned E! News request for comment and Maroon 5's rep had no comment regarding the potential Super Bowl performance.
Super Bowl 50 will take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday, Feb. , 2016, and air on CBS.

Maroon 5's 'Feelings' may become a flop

"Feelings" lyric video caption.
Pop radio is just not feeling Maroon 5's new single

So, according to recent data and information released through Mediabase and CMM, Maroon 5's newest radio single, titled "Feelings", is not doing so well on pop radio in the States. If fact, the disco-dance-pop tune has the least amount of positive reception.

Take a look at the information given below, via HeadlinePlanet:
With a positive reception from 35.2% of listeners (#32 out of the 32 measured pop songs) and a negative reaction from 41.9% (highest-negative), Maroon 5’s “Feelings” actually holds the dreaded “net negative” reaction at pop radio. Its “net positive” score is -6.7; none of the other 31 pop songs featured in this week’s callout reports has a sub-zero net positive score.
The 6.7% “favorite” rating for Maroon 5’s “Feelings” is the lowest — and thus proof that the reaction to the Maroon 5 track is not simply “polarizing.” It is bad.
Familiar to 74.3% of listeners, the song can certainly achieve improved marks moving forward. However, it appears likely to end up with a particularly warm reception from pop radio listeners.

"Feelings", produced by longtime Maroon 5 producer Shellback and Oscar Görres, serves as the fifth single off of the band's fifth studio effort, V, which was released in September 2014 and was re-issued earlier this year in May. It follows-up its previous single, "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf***er", which performed moderately poor on contemporary and pop radio worldwide (#21 on Adult Contemporary, #23 on Billboard Top Hot 100, and #40 in the United Kingdom). "Feelings", thus far, has charted at #43 on the Canadian Top 40, #29 on the Mainstream Top 40, #118 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #17 on the Adult Top 40 chart.

Adam Levine 'felt insecure' while recording Maroon 5's 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long'

Maroon 5 talking with MTV in 2007.
Levine opened up about how he felt during the It Won't Be Soon Before Long era

In an exclusive interview with the New York Times paper way back in May of 2007, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine spoke up about how he profoundly felt throughout the time period that recording sessions took place for Maroon 5's sophomore studio effort, It Wont Be Soon Before Long. Levine also talked about his wishes and feelings towards the band's recording contract (at the time, of course) and how honest he felt about A&M/Octone's loyalties with the Los Angeles group.

Maroon 5 have never really experienced troubles or had hiccups with recording labels and contracts. However, over the course of their career, the pop rock outfit have had to get bumped up to higher labels due to outdated subsidiaries (ie: Octone became jointed with A&M in 2007 and A&M/Octone became extinct after Interscope initiated its buy/sell rights in 2013).

The L.A. rockers spent a rather long time in the studio recording their sophomore studio album, the follow-up to their largely successful debut album Songs About Jane (currently 6 times platinum). Beginning in 2005, Levine started writing for the record with producers Mike Elizando and fellow bandmates Jesse Carmichael and James Valentine. Speaking about the the recording sessions, Levine said "You go away for a long enough period of time and you feel a bit more insecure about your position,” Levine said in an interview. "But that melted away. We’ve had enough time to rest and to regroup and make a great record, in my opinion." Levine also spoke about his nerves and how the sophomore slump factor played in his band's recording process. "Being a musician can be specially scary if you have been doing it for a long period of time and then not release anything for a while, and you wonder if anybody is still listening or wondering. I think that is common for bands and young singers who had a lot of success with their first record and are expected to come out with this great second [album]."

After Levine was asked about his label loyalties with A&M/Octone, which at the time was new territory for Maroon 5 after being signed with J and Octone Records for almost 6 years, he said: "It’s difficult if not impossible to realistically know what the consumer is going to make of a particular band five years from now," said Celia Hirschman, an independent marketing consultant and former major-label executive. "In the last two years the record industry has changed so drastically that events that took place five years ago are no longer relevant. I think you’re going to see less and less of these deals in the future." A&R Jimmy Iovine later spoke about Maroon 5's label change and success, stating: "I know I never would have let [Maroon 5] go, that’s how I feel good about the deal,” Mr. Iovine said. While acknowledging the industry’s slump, he added: "Where we’re headed, the quality of your roster is going to be so important. You can only win right now with real artists that can penetrate worldwide. I don’t know anybody who doesn’t believe in that kid’s career."

Adam Levine Signee Rozzi Crane Announces New Single

Rozzi Crane reveals new "Jealous" single off of TIME

Earlier today (Friday, Oct. 2), Rozzi Crane, the first person signed to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine's record label 222 Records, released her brand new single today, entitled "Jealous."

"Jealous" is an indie-pop, R&B inspired song strays pretty far from the sounds we heard on her debut EP, Space, which was released earlier this year. The new single is the first to be released off of Crane's forthcoming album, Time. The EP is set to be released on October 9 through 222 Records.

Crane spoke about the song to Billboard magazine, stating: “'Jealous' means a lot to me even as it takes on new meaning. "I think it's because jealousy is such a varied emotion. You can feel jealousy about a crush, a stranger, or about someone you've known forever. It's not always the prettiest emotion, but it's definitely an honest one."

After her busy year touring as a supporting act on Maroon 5's North American Tour and writing and recording new music, she is currently on a United States tour with synthpop hero Owl City.

Listen to "Jealous" below:
