Maroon 5 take home first iHeartRadio Music Award

The 3rd annual iHeartRadio Music Awards were held on Sunday, April 3, and Maroon 5 officially won their first award at the ceremony.

Maroon 5 was up against some tough competition. Walk the Moon, Zac Brown Band, Fall Out Boy, and One Direction were among other nominees for the Best Duo/Group Award, however Maroon 5 ookt home the prize.

The Best Duo/Group Award nomination follows Maroon 5's first nomination back in 2014. The band was nominated for Artist of the Year at the 1st annual iHeartRadio Music Awards. Maroon 5 also performed their single "Animals", from their latest studio effort V, on the award ceremony live from the 2016 NCAA March Madness Music Festival.

The next major award ceremony in the music industry will be the 2016 Billboard Music Awards returning on Wednesday, May 17 on ABC. A list of nominations or categories have not been revealed at this time. The award ceremony is not catered by fan votes, however is similar to the Grammy Awards voting process.
