The Voice Finale Recap: Who is the winner?

The Voice season 10 title page.
Team Christina's very own Alisan Porter is crowned The Voice

NBC's The Voice season 10 finale was a definitely a terrific one. There were star performances from Zayn Malik, Ariana Grande, Sia, Little Big Town, and coaches Christina Aguilera Blake Shelton, and the winner of the show's tenth season was crowned.

Team Xtina's finalist Alisan Porter was crowned the winner of The Voice of season 10. Fourth place went to Team Adam's own Laith Al-Saadi, third place went to Team Pharrell's Hannah Houston, and second place was Team Blake's Adam Wakefield.

Porter's win goes down in history as coach Christina Aguilera's first seasonal win, as well as it being the first seasonal win for a female coach, as former coaches Shakira and Gwen Stefani have not achieved the feat.

As a married mother of two and stepmom to one, Alisan proudly says that her family is "everything," but her current life is a far cry from a career in Hollywood that began nearly 30 years ago. When she was just two, Alisan started auditioning for commercials, and in the span of just two years, she was booking national commercials and was even featured on Star Search. With this exposure, she was put on the radar of every casting agency in Hollywood and soon began booking film roles - most notably the title role in the John Hughes film Curly Sue, starring Jim Belushi, and Parenthood, alongside Steve Martin. As a young adult, Alisan struggled with drugs and alcohol. Now eight years clean, she is proud to share her story of overcoming addiction and ready to give stardom one more shot on The Voice.

Adam Levine speaks out about North Carolina cancellations

Maroon 5's Adam Levine talks about Maroon 5's NC cancellations for the first time since the announcement

On the red carpet behind the scenes at NBC's The Voice first-night finale episode, coach Adam Levine was asked about Maroon 5's announcement about canceling their two headlining concerts in North Carolina this year, with Entertainment Tonight Canada (ET Canada).

Maroon 5 made an announcement on Friday, May 20, revealing that they had canceled their Charlotte and Releigh concerts in North Carolina this September due to the House Bill 2 law, a law that legislates that in government buildings, individuals may only use restrooms and changing facilities that correspond to the sex on their birth certificates, which has been criticized because it prevents transgender people who do not or cannot alter their birth certificates from using the restroom consistent with their gender identity. The law has been described as "most anti-LGBT legislation in the United States."

Adam Levine's statement can be read below:

"I mean we don't like to make statements, but we do like to support everybody being treated equally. And if they're not being treated equally in certain states, then we have to make certain changes. So hopefully they will, and hopefully we'll go back [to North Carolina] soon."

Maroon 5 follows Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato on boycotting bathroom law in North Carolina

Last month, pop superstars Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato revealed that they had cancelled their concerts in North Carolina due to the new HB2 transgender bathroom law, in which has many people, famous and non-famous, pissed off.

Pop band Maroon 5 are the newest musical act to cancel their shows in North Carolina. They announced on Friday, May 20 that they will not be performing in Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina on September 11 and September 12 of this year.

Here's the statement issued by Maroon 5 below:
We have announced that we will be canceling our upcoming shows in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina because of the recent passage of the HB2 legislation. This was a difficult decision for us to make as a band. We don’t want to penalize our fans in North Carolina by not performing for them, but in the end it comes down to what we feel is morally right.

Grammy-winning bass player Mickey (Michael) Madden, 36, got a conditional dismissal offer and agreed to do one day of community service in Manhattan Criminal Court after a brief appearance Tuesday.
Cops said Madden passed a vial of cocaine to James (Bingo) Gubelmann, 35, while standing outside St. Dymphna's bar on Saint Marks Place about 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 21.

But Madden's lawyer Joe Tacopina said the musician never even touched the drugs.

A timeline of Maroon 5's new project

Maroon 5 in 2015.
For those confused about what Adam Levine and Maroon 5 are saying about their new music, here's a simple and basic timeline of what's going on.

May 2015

Maroon 5 released a new single out of blue, "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherfucker", last May. The single promoted the band's re-issue of their fifth studio effort, V, which included the new song. After the poor response from the band's follow-up single "Feelings" in September, it's safe to say that "This Summer" was the last successful hit from the V era.

November 2015

James Valentine, longtime Maroon 5 guitarist, hosted a live Q&A session through Live Nation's official Facebook account in November of last year and answered dozens of fan questions. Valentine responded to a fan's question concerning the next Maroon 5 album, to which he replied, "I think all of us want to make a more traditional record next. What do I mean by that? More like the way we made Songs About Jane, just sitting in a room with our instruments and slugging it out. It's been fun to experiment on the last couple of records with the more electronic sounds, but maybe we've gone as far as we can with that for now."

April 2016

Adam Levine first spoke directly about the new Maroon 5 project in an interview with Entertainment Weekly backstage at NBC's The Voice. After being asked what the status of the next Maroon 5 "album" was, Levine responded with "Not an album right now, but maybe a song. Got to keep the kids interested, we have something going on right now." Levine further explained, "It's out soon. It's coming. It's on the way. It's in the incubator."

Just days later, Levine was a special guest on Live! with Kelly and Michael. He spoke about the exciting news about his soon-to-be daughter he's having with wife Behati Prinsloo, his future on NBC's The Voice, and of course the new Maroon 5 project. After being asked "Now do you guys have any plans of putting out new music as Maroon 5?", Levine responded with, "We are working on some stuff right now [...] It's tough. The Voice is happening, we're in and out of the studio. Baby stuff is happening."

He then went on to plug his brand new solo song, "Go Now", for the John Carney movie Sing Street. You can listen to "Go Now" available on Apple Music.

The same day, on April 29, Adam Levine spilled some more beans on the new Maroon 5 project on the Today Show. Matt Lauer asked Levine about where the band stands currently on new music. The singer replied, "We're doing stuff. We're kind of in and out of the studio right now."

May 2016

As of the publishing of this article - May 2, 2016 - nothing has been said yet about a new Maroon 5 album or song this month, however the group is giving fans reason to believe that something special is definitely coming. They is touring later this year in the U.S. with Tove Lo, PHASES, and R. City, which is already a given, but aside from what James and Adam have been revealing, the band updated all of their social media accounts on May 2 with new logos and fonts, giving fans more reason to be excited.

Taking past new music revealings and announcements into consideration, whenever Maroon 5 publishes new logo content, new music comes out soon after. Last year, "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherfucker" was heavily teased for weeks prior to its official release on May 15, 2015; cover artwork, new logos, and radio promo banners were revealed ahead of time. Same with "Maps" in 2014, before stating that new music was actually coming out, the band teased with new photos and artsy videos online. Alas, the social media updates can only be speculated since they don't confirm new music is coming.

And as social media savvy the band seems to be, Maroon 5's Jesse Carmichael and James Valentine do love to share exclusive in studio footage of what they're working on. Jesse has shared numerous studio clips on his official Instagram account, like this photo below.
