Maroon 5 premiere 'What Lovers Do' lyric video, Slushii remix
Maroon 5 dropped the "What Lovers Do" lyric video early and released a new remix
Christmas came a bit early for Maroon 5 fans on Friday (Sep. 15). The Los Angeles band had previously revealed that they were premiering the lyric visual for their new single "What Lovers Do", featuring SZA, on Monday, September 18, however was uploaded to Vevo four days earlier. We were also blessed with a brand new remix of "What Lovers Do", from EDM producer Slushii.
The lyric video has a very strong VHS aesthetic with the old school nostalgic font and square cropped TV screen. It also features eerie clips of candy being melted, softened, and defrosted throughout adding to the single cover art for "What Lovers Do" with the lolly popsicle.
A new remix of "What Lovers Do" also premiered on Friday from EDM producer and DJ Slushii, who put a more chill and ambient vibe to the synthpop single, airing the song out to a pleasing 4 minutes and 13 seconds long. The remix was made available to stream on Maroon 5's Vevo channel as well as across all digital platforms.
The official music video for "What Lovers Do" is scheduled to premiere sometime in the coming weeks, which is highly speculated to accompany the announcement of Maroon 5's highly anticipated sixth studio LP. The music video was filmed in August with director Joseph Kahn, who directed the video for Maroon 5's 2010 single "Misery". The video will star the song's guest artist SZA portraying a sexy nurse. Lead singer Adam Levine has shared clips of himself bandaged and badly beaten in a hospital bed on the set. It looks like Maroon 5 may be trying to outdo themselves once again after the iconic videos for "Sugar" and "Don't Wanna Know".
Maroon 5 are scheduled to perform at this year's annual music festival Rock In Rio on Saturday, September 16. The band will also be performing a headlining concert at tonight, September 15's line-up, replacing American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga who backed out due to illness, as confirmed on her Twitter. Both sets will be streamed live at LiveXLive.com accordingly. Other musical acts to perform over the Rock In Rio festival this weekend include 5 Seconds of Summer, Pet Shop Boys, Fergie, Shawn Mendes, and Skank.
"What Lovers Do" is available now worldwide. You can stream the song on Apple Music and Spotify and purchase it on iTunes Store.
